Tara O'Callaghan

Growing up between Serbia and Ireland, Tara spent her childhood filming small documentaries to send back to her grandparents. What began as a way to stay connected became a lifelong fascination with real people and their stories. After studying directing at the National Film School in Dublin, she cut her teeth making music videos before moving into editing commercials, where she fell in love with the craft and rhythm of storytelling.

Working across both drama and documentary, Tara has developed a distinctive visual style where lived-in reality meets striking imagery and every moment feels immediate and alive.

Her debut short documentary Call Me Mommy premiered at Sundance 2023 and is now being developed into a feature. Her work has been recognised with Gold and the Grand Jury Prize at Cannes YDA, as well as at Kinsale Shark and the EDAs. 

Named by The Irish Times as one of “50 People to Watch”, Tara continues to create work that’s fearless in its honesty and full of life.
